Michael Rozen is an artist based in Vancouver, Canada, which exists on the traditional unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓wətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. He studied political science and history at McGill University in Montréal, and learned how to paint, make installation art, and sculpt through years of hands-on apprenticeship with other artists.

During two residencies in Spain, studio painting in France, and work on over 30 murals in four North American cities, Michael created distinct sets of artwork based on different environments—urban and rural—and learned how to produce on a large, building-size scale. Michael’s art has been influenced by visits to galleries in Beirut, Berlin, and Sarajevo where he learned how art can educate, empower, and connect people to the past and compel them to change the present. These experiences inspire the stories and symbols in his work, documenting humanity’s psychological and material struggles. Michael held his first solo exhibition in Vancouver in 2019, and has shown in group exhibitions in Montreal, New Jersey, and Barcelona.
